What is an agent ?

Artificial intelligence uses machines to automate tasks requiring human intelligence. For example, language. VirtuOz’s intelligent agents are designed to understand a sentence, reason and respond to questions. They are capable of carrying on a bona fide conversation. On the web, an agent generally appears as a graphical image, which can engage in written conversation (chat) with Internet users. They can also interface with the agents through instant messaging, SMS or email.

Each VirtuOz agent shares the following characteristics:

• It has a specific mission: each agent is given a specific mission by its "employer" and is proactive in meeting its objectives. It neither behaves randomly nor wastes time trying to entertain the person it's speaking with.
• It is intelligent : to accomplish its mission, the agent understands, reasons and asks questions by performing an in-depth analysis of user sentences. It is not a search engine.
• It learns : the more the agent works, the more it can improves its skills.
• It simultaneously handles several thousand conversations !
